PRIMRE Webinar Series
PRIMRE Workshop at OREC 2021
As part of the Pacific Ocean Energy Trust's Ocean Renewable Energy Conference (OREC 2021), the PRIMRE team hosted a free, online workshop on Friday, September 24, 2021 from 8:00-10:00am PDT. The workshop provided an overview of PRIMRE, its Aggregate Search, and ways to contribute, as well as live demonstrations of the newest Knowledge Hubs, the Marine Energy Atlas and MRE Software.

Marine Energy Data Standards & Pipeline Webinars
Do you spend a lot of time and effort curating and processing data before conducting your analysis?
Working with standardized data not only saves time and effort but improves data compatibility, reusability, and interoperability. Standardized data can also accelerate analyses of instrument- and model-based data, increase their reliability, and advance science.
The Marine Energy Data Pipeline team led by the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is developing a data ingestion pipeline to read, process, and convert raw instrument data to standard formats. As part of this project, PNNL has developed an initial baseline set of data standards and would like to socialize the data standards with the marine energy community. The data standards document is available at https://github.com/ME-Data-Pipeline-Software/data_standards.
PRIMRE hosted two webinars for the Marine Energy Data Pipeline team to introduce the development of the new Marine Energy Data Pipeline. If you have any questions on the data standards or pipeline, or would like to provide feedback or collaborate, please reach out to email@example.com.
Part 1 - Marine Energy Data Standards
Part one of this two-part webinar series focused on marine energy data standards.
Held on: Apr 20, 2021 11:00 AM in Pacific Time (US and Canada)
Part 2 - Marine Energy Data Pipeline
Part two of this two-part webinar series focused on Tsdat, the open-source time series data utility that can be used to convert raw data to standardized format.
Held on: May 11, 2021 11:00 AM in Pacific Time (US and Canada)
Design Load Case Generator Webinar
During this webinar, Sandia National Laboratories presented the development of a web-based tool to streamline marine energy system technology design and certification following the International Electrotechnical Commission 62600-2 technical specification requirements. The tool will include a host of functions that were demonstrated in a case study for the Reference Model 3 point absorber designed for the PACWAVE test site located off the Oregon Coast, including: site mapping, data search to identify and download the best available information for the project site, data quality assurance and quality control checks, and a variety of univariate and bivariate statistical methods for estimating the extreme load conditions, e.g., the 50-year return period significant wave height that characterizes the extreme wave load condition.
Held on: Jan 14, 2021 8:00 AM in Pacific Time (US and Canada)
PRIMRE Development Webinars
Launched in 2019, the Portal and Repository for Information on Marine Renewable Energy (PRIMRE) was developed to serve as a centralized access point that enhances the accessibility and discoverability of information relevant to marine renewable energy (MRE) development and operations in the U.S. In October 2020, the PRIMRE team (led by Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and Sandia National Laboratories) held two webinars to highlight new sites, tools, and features on PRIMRE and the PRIMRE Knowledge Hubs.
Part 1 - New Sites and Tools
Part one of this two-part webinar series highlighted new sites and tools developed within PRIMRE: the MRE Technology Database, MRE Software, and Telesto. The MRE Technology Database contains information on MRE devices, points to companies active in the MRE field, and traces the development of projects around the world. MRE Software is a collection of software relevant to MRE development, including the MRE Code Hub and PRIMRE Code Catalog. Telesto is a collection of information and guidance for testing, measurement, and data analysis for MRE research, development, and demonstration.
Held on: Oct 7, 2020 08:00 AM in Pacific Time (US and Canada)
Part 2 - New Features of Existing Knowledge Hubs
Part two of this two-part webinar series highlighted new features of existing PRIMRE Knowledge Hubs: Signature Projects, the Tethys Engineering Photo Library, and the PRIMRE aggregate search. Signature Projects are intended to bring focus to a selection of U.S. Department of Energy's Water Power Technologies Office projects. The Tethys Engineering Photo Library hosts photos and illustrations of MRE devices, arrays, and facilities that have been graciously provided by over 40 developers worldwide. Finally, the PRIMRE aggregate search enables users to find data and information from several PRIMRE Knowledge Hubs using a single entry-point.
Held on Oct 28, 2020 08:00 AM in Pacific Time (US and Canada)
