Technology Description The C5 is anchored perpendicular to the motion of the waves. On either side of the oblong machine are 20 hemisphere shaped floats that are partially submerged in the water. When a wave rolls in the floats are lifted upwards in succession by the wave crest. The floats are each positioned at the base of their own hydraulic cylinder.
Power Transfer Method When a float is raised, a piston in the cylinder presses oil into the machines common transmission system with a pressure of up to 200 bar 2900 psi. The pressure drives a hydraulic motor that is connected to a generator.
