The Future of Industrial Energy Efficiency Finance in China
Webinar Summary The Clean Energy Solutions Center, in partnership with the Institute for Industrial Productivity (IIP), is offering a webinar on the Chinese government's plan for facilitating financing for industrial energy efficiency and how the Chinese financial system is evolving to meet those requirements.
The webinar explores the issues and looks at possible solutions for the future of industrial energy finance in China. It also includes a snapshot of the industrial energy efficiency financing landscape at the beginning of the 12th Five Year Plan, The presenters will also address:
How have financial products and approaches evolved since the beginning of the 12th Five Year Plan? Are existing financing options likely to be adequate to the financing needs of the 12th Five Year Plan? What role does the Chinese government envision for energy service companies (ESCOs)? How are banks responding to green regulation and market conditions? How are banks working with ESCOs and are the latter up to the task? What is the role of leasing companies and other non-bank financial institutions?

Regional Exchange and Practitioners Workshop: Towards an Inclusive Green Economy in Latin America and the Caribbean
The main objective of the workshop is to provide a platform for participants to present and discuss core challenges and potential solutions for promoting sustainable development, in particular poverty eradication, and assessing a transition towards an Inclusive Green Economy – including cost-benefit considerations of these policies. The event aims at facilitating an exchange on best practices for policy approaches in Latin America and the Caribbean; selected examples from outside the region will also be presented and discussed to allow for a balanced debate of inclusive green economy policies. Furthermore, the conference seeks to serve as a platform for the interchange of ideas and perspectives and the compilation of inspiring practice examples on the path to inclusive green economies.
The event will be organized jointly by the Uruguayan government1 and the BMU/UNEP/GIZ2 Green Economy project in cooperation with partners such as ECLAC (Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean), IDB (Inter-American Development Bank) and ILO (International Labour Organization).
