Notes
There are two possible explanations for the inferred presence of relatively 18O-enriched thermal water at Yellowstone in the past: (1) meteoric recharge water was relatively lSO-enriched at certain times because of temporal variations in climate, or (2) meteoric recharge water was not relatively iaO-enriched, but rather thermal water was enriched in iaO by hydrothermal processes.
